“The reason #DropThePlus came about was… I said that it is quite a detrimental term because it doesn’t really make sense, any model above an Australian size 8 is plus-sized. What that’s implying is that what is normal is everything under a size 8 and that everything over a size 8 is this “other”. It is a message that we are giving to young girls that if you’re above a size 8, you’re not quite normal—you’re too big to be really accepted.”
